Rudolph Chow

23Dec12

My name is Becky and I’m a Muddy Buddy/Puppy Chow addict. It brings me back to my childhood when my siblings and I would eat it by the bowlful. This year I’ve been enjoying all of the peppermint flavored candies so I decided it would be perfect melted with some dark chocolate, tossed with Cripix and covered in powdered sugar. So here goes my first recipe blogged 🙂

9 cups Crispix (Chex is ok, I prefer Crispix)

1/4 cup unsalted butter (real butter please)

1 heaping cup of dark chocolate chips (Ghirardelli  60% cacao is what I use)

1/2 cup Andes Peppermint Crunch Baking Chips

1 tsp Vanilla

4 Candy Canes crushed (make sure they are a fine almost powder)

2 cups powdered sugar

Line a large jelly roll pan with wax or parchment paper and set aside.

Over a double boiler melt butter, chocolate chips and peppermint chips. When melted add vanilla. In a LARGE bowl pour chocolate mixture over the cereal and mix well.

In a large zipper bag add 1 cup powdered sugar and half the candy cane pieces mix well. Add half the chocolate covered cereal seal and shake well, Dump on half of the lined pan. Repeat with other half of sugar, candy canes and cereal.

Cool in refrigerator for a few hours and enjoy.

Seeing Green

17Feb12

Think spring…just a touch of spring fever over here. Even though we have not been pounded by blizzard after blizzard this winter, I’m still anxious for spring. Ready for sunny days and sprouting flowers. I knit a couple of beanies in honor of St. Patrick’s Day! No I’m not Irish, but enjoy all things green and a hot Irish Coffee every now and then. I used and gorgeous hand spun and dyed yarn from Hogg Wild Fibers. This was the first time I ordered her yarn and was so happy with the quality of the fiber and well as the depth of color. It has EVERY shade of green imaginable! And of course it is accented with my favorite hand crafted wood buttons 🙂

I have 2 Ready to Ship in newborn and 3 month sizes. They will be ready for purchased in my shop.

Addictions; Knitting, Diet Coke, Chocolate, Hand Spun Yarn and Pinterest.

I have to admit I was very hesitant to join the pinning community. I started slow just pinning my favorite recipes, oh yes I’m a food blog addict as well. It was the perfect place to easily access all my recipes while cooking and getting my grocery list in order. Then I pinned cute kid and home improvement type ideas. I started seeing all these adorable DIY sewing projects, and I had to have a sewing machine. I asked my friends to talk me out of starting, yet another hobby and they were successful. Then I remembered a Christmas present circa 2007 that was hidden under tubs of yarn in my closet. You can imagine my joy as I pulled out the most adorable mini green sewing machine. Well I don’t know the first thing about sewing machines, so I brought it to work with me in hopes someone could help me. Lo and behold 2 of my coworkers were happy to help me get set up.

So this little cutie is all set and ready to sew… and so is my son O, who can’t keep his hands off of mom’s new “machine”. I hope this will help me with some packaging for my knits and I would like to get some cute tags to sew in my pieces. I’m hoping to have a few projects to show you in the near future but for now I have a few hats to knit.

Weekend knits

17Jan12

I have finished up all my orders from my very busy December, and am now enjoying a little down time to finish up some personal projects. I have 2 boys that are always last to get hats, so my oldest got a dino hat. I also have 2 sisters, a brother, sister in law and niece who also enjoy my hand knits. I was able to FINALLY finish a cowl for my sister (whose birthday was in August) major fail on my part 😉 It turned out fabulous! I used a beautiful hand spun merino wool and wonderful hand crafted buttons I found on etsy, from just across the state. I cannot take credit for this amazing pattern. I found it on, surprise, etsy! Here is a link to her store, I have full intentions of knitting a pair of her slippers for myself…one day.
